Jamie is the 2nd horn in the Houston Ballet Orchestra and is an active freelancer in and around the Houston area, playing with the Houston Symphony and the Houston Grand Opera as well as the San Antonio Symphony. Jamie also spent 3 years as 2nd horn in the Louisiana Philharmonic.
Jamie holds a Bachelors degree in horn performance from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music and a Masters degree in horn performance from DePaul University in Chicago. While at IU, she studied with Dale Clevenger, principal horn of the Chicago Symphony (1966-2013), Jeff Nelsen, former hornist of the Canadian brass, and also studied natural horn with Richard Seraphinoff. In 2011, Jamie had the privilege of studying in Vienna for a semester, where she studied with Wolfgang Vladar, third horn of the Wiener Philharmoniker. At DePaul, Jamie studied with Jim Smelser, 2nd Horn in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Oto Carrillo, Utility Horn in the Chicago Symphony. While in Chicago, Jamie was an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and played with an array of other ensembles including the Northbrook Symphony, the Peoria Symphony, and her brass quintet, The Tune Squad. In 2015, Jamie began a Performance Certificate in Horn Performance at the University of Houston, Moores School of Music, where she studied for 2 years with Robert Johnson, Associate Principal Horn of the Houston Symphony Orchestra. During her fourth semester at UH, she won the 2nd horn position with the Houston Ballet Orchestra.
Outside of horn, Jamie enjoys yoga, lifting, reading, baking, and spending time with the two best cats in the world, Remy and Eleanor Rigby.
